Rafiq from Florida, one of my first Black Belt students writes:

"I met Geoff Johnson when I started college in August of 2002 at UCF, and began training under him immediately. This was my first real experience with martial arts, and I could not ask for a more patient and thorough instructor. He makes sure that you know every little detail about how the techniques are performed, from the strikes and blocks to the reactions of opponents to the physics behind what you are doing. He is always willing to answer questions in great detail and make sure that you really understand what is happening in every aspect of the techniques. His innovations and additions to the system are fantastic. Geoff has really been able to fill gaps in the original system, as well as cut out some of the fat. His contributions and his teaching style have allowed me to develop into the martial artist that I am today. Geoff’s instruction allowed me to compete in the Disney Martial Arts tournament in October 2006, as a brown belt, and place first in sparring and forms (I was unable to compete in the self defense portion because I didn’t have a partner). I received my black belt from Geoff in December 2008. The years of dedication, pain, and sweat have been well worth what I have gained from him. I don’t think you could find a better teacher, mentor, and friend.

I have gone through other training videos in the past and have watched various instructional videos online, and none have been as thorough or organized as Geoff’s. He takes it slow through the basics and the tough parts, and really makes you understand everything. Even being so far away (me in Florida and Geoff in Virginia), I am able to watch his videos and learn almost as well as when I was getting face to face instruction with him (most of the techniques between brown and black belt were learned through video). Of course, he is always willing to give very detailed answers. Geoff’s attention to detail makes his videos the best of the best. I have not been able to retain techniques as well with other video systems. It quite literally is the best, most detailed, most thorough home study course available.

Whether you are a beginner looking to get into martial arts, a seasoned martial artist looking for a different approach, or black belt in American Kenpo, Geoff’s videos can help you grow as a martial artist. His new system covers all aspects of the art, from hand-to-hand, to weapons, and even to ground fighting (which was left out of the original system). It’s all covered in immense detail."

Mike from New Zealand, one of my Home Study Course students writes:

"Yes, I have a little bit of experience in Martial arts - I did Atemi Jujitsu to orange belt. I did it a few years ago, but had to give it up when we moved from South Africa to New Zealand... In doing some research, however, I came to discover that American Kenpo is very, very similar... I am very impressed with the way that the curriculum has been thought-through from beginning to end.  Anyway, it seemed like Kenpo was the choice of MA for me. But there are no worthwhile clubs within reasonable driving distance from me - and so that is when I started to look into the possibility of doing something via distance.

I found your website via a google search - and really love what you have done with the EPAK system. I think it is just so much better. Everything you have done is exactly what I would have hoped for. So, I'm really happy to have the opportunity to study this. It's also really shattering my paradigm doing the whole thing via distance. It is so helpful being able to watch your videos over and over again - and then receive such a detailed a report back from you; it's already much more than I ever received from my previous training with a club (I remember always wishing that I could get the sensei to teach me something over and over again - and then give me individualized critique!). So thanks so much once again. I'm really enjoying it - and looking forward to pressing on in the orange belt syllabus!"
